One of the most important aspects of successful outcome of the various diseases which require prolonged immobilization is neuro- rehabilitation. This is especially important in conditions affecting either the brain or the nerves. The various conditions that can affect the child are severe brain infections causing prolonged immobilization and stiffing of limbs, conditions such as Gullian Barre syndrome, cerebral palsy, pediatric strokes or paralysis etc. At Lotus all these children are evaluated by a team of highly trained specialized physiotherapists. The power of various muscle groups is charted and a individualized plan is charted for each patient with meticulous care.
There is a special physiotherapy center present in the premises of the hospital with specialized equipments especially tailored from pediatric usage. This facility can be used both for in patients and outpatients. This facility is provided to the patients who are at high risk for developmental delays due to marked pre maturity or delays in fine motor skills, upper extremity dysfunction, visual perceptual difficulties, oral motor skills or activities related to daily living skills (i.e., bathing, dressing or feeding).
Those patients with diagnoses including head trauma, stroke, failure to thrive, brachial plexus injury and feeding and swallowing disorders gets benefited by these services. The other group of patients who are covered under this programme are those who have limitations in bed or wheelchair mobility problems with gait, coordination/balance, or lower extremity losses in function.
