Inpatient
Pediatrics - Inpatient Services

Under Lotus Children's Hospital has two floors dedicated for general pediatric patients needing inpatient admission. Children with non - critical medical and surgical problems are accommodated here and nursed back to health. All newborn babies and children initially admitted in the Intensive Care Units would be transferred to this floor to continue treatment until they are cleared medically for discharge home. The floor plans are designed to fulfill the needs all children hailing from different socioeconomic strata. We have four bedded cubicles, twin sharing rooms, single rooms and deluxe rooms.

Each floor has a nursing station uniquely designed as a "Ship" and another designed as an "Aircraft Cockpit", manned round the clock by nursing staff. There are "nurse call systems" installed in each room which are easy to access and identify by parents. Pressing a button will deliver a visible indicator as well as an audible warning at the nurse station indicating to the nursing staff that attention to the child is needed. This feature is in addition to the regular visits to each room by our pediatricians and nursing staff at scheduled timings for clinical rounds as well as any medical necessity.

The Assurance of Quality!

Although children are admitted under the care of different pediatric consultants and pediatric super specialist consultants, there is a designated pediatric consultant and pediatric registrar posted on each floor who oversee the overall care of all children. This unique highlight of our pediatric Inpatient Services ensures maintenance of quality and in essence guarantees that medical orders / instructions given by the admitting consultant are carried out and executed by the designated nursing and junior pediatric house staff.

The Medical Decision Making Process

Though children are admitted under one designated pediatrician, during the morning hours, a team of consultant pediatricians conduct a detailed round and plan the management for each patient. In the evening, a similar detailed bedside round is conducted, this time along with the night on - call consultant and pediatric registrar. A proper 'sign out' or' hand over is given at the bedside of each child with a plan for the night, to the night medical team. This ensures continuity of care during the evening and night hours.
