This department caters to the conditions which either primarily or as a part of disease process affect the various components of blood. The cells that get affected are red blood cells causing anemia or low hemoglobin, low platelets or thrombocytopenia, high or low white blood cells.
The other condition which requires special focus is prolonged bleeding or delayed clotting.
The other aspect of the department is to deal with the various types of cancers either affecting the blood (blood cancers) or various other body organs. The children suffering from these aliments are extremely fragile and need very careful handling. This is a multidisciplinary team effort and requires pediatric hemato - oncologists, pathologists, pediatrician, intensivist and psychologists. At Lotus we have a highly dedicated team to look after these children and they are treated at intensive care unit during the acute period and strict isolation during the later part of disease.
Unlike the general perceptive that pediatric cancers are incurable, at Lotus we have shown good results in treatment of various such cases. The department is headed by one of the most experienced hemato-oncologist in the country with good back up support from pathologist, pediatricians, intensivist, psychologist and dietician.

- Management of patients with chemotherapy by introducing long indwelling lines
- Transfusions of various blood products like packed red cells, fresh frozen plasma, random donor platelets, single donor platelets and cryoprecipitate.
