Emergency Pediatric Transport System
Lotus Children's Hospital has specially designed ambulances to transfer sick children from other hospitals, nursing homes and health centers not only from the twin city area, but from a distance of up to 300 kms. These vehicles are fitted with artificial life support gadgets and carry sufficient oxygen and have all necessary equipment to care for sick children while enroute to our hospital.
A unique feature of our emergency transport vehicles is that we have state - life support gadgets, monitoring devices and oxygen to safely transfer a critically ill child on artificial life support from another hospital or center. Such advanced pediatric transport systems are not available in most other children's hospitals.

We have a dedicated and specialized pediatric (child) transport team consisting of a pediatrician trained in pediatric emergency medicine and an intensive care unit nurse who is well trained to tackle any emergency during transport. There is a transport team always on standby and can be dispatched at a very short notice.
Emergency Room ( ER )
Lotus Children's Hospital has a strategically located Emergency Room with easy accessibility from the main road. The Emergency entrance to the hospital is clearly sign posted in red color and strikingly visible. It is manned round the clock by a pediatrician trained to handle all pediatric emergencies and skilled emergency room nursing staff.
The Emergency Crash Cart: There is a cart kept in the Emergency Room that contains all the necessary drugs required for the treatment of any emergency "preloaded and ready for use". The medicines in the cart are checked every day and are maintained 24 hours a day.
The cart also contains all the other equipment required for emergency management of the airway and for establishing an artificial airway, inserting venous lines into major blood vessels to administer medications and fluids.
A Defibrillator is available to deliver electric shock in the case of severe cardiac rhythm problems which is especially custom order for use in children.
The Emergency Room is equipped with a Operation Theater where all emergency surgical operations can be performed at very short notice. The availability of an on - call Consultant Pediatric Surgeon round the clock enhances the quality of service provided to sick children when necessary.
Night time Emergency Care:
We know that children fall sick at anytime day or night often without any prior warning. With this in mind, we have ensured the availability of consultant pediatricians, pediatric registrars and consultant pediatric surgeons and pediatric sub specialists 24 hour a day! At anytime, night or day, any child brought to the Emergency Room for care, parents can be rest assured that a senior consultant pediatrician is available even during the night (off hours) to address crucial issues and direct the care of the sick child effectively.
The close proximity of essential diagnostic services for the critically injured/ill child ensures rapid diagnostic testing and reporting to allow quick decision making by our consultant team. The Radiology department is located directly across the Emergency Room, with facilities of CT scan, X-ray, Fluoroscopy, Ultrasonography. The laboratory services (Microbiology, Pathology and Bio-chemistry) are also located close to the ER. This immediate availability of diagnostic testing drastically reduces the time needed to evaluate a severely ill and the critically injured child and execute appropriate treatment or surgery.
